We use the Dermapen 4 ™ (Dp4) microneedling device. It's the first digital device on the market and the fastest device in history. It creates 1,920 microchannels per second and is 104% faster than other microneedling devices on the market. The Dermapen 4 ™ (Dp4) microneedling device is Health Canada approved.

You can expect to experience a minor prickling sensation during the treatment. The D4 device is designed to be the most comfortable microneedling device on the market. Though not entirely pain-free, the treatment portion of the appointment is quite quick and very tolerable.

You will want to stop all active skincare ingredients 7 days prior to your treatment. This includes - all retinoids (including tretinoin and retinol), BHA's (salicylic acid), AHA's (glycolic acid , lactic acid), benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone, and azelaic acid. If you are prone to herpes simplex (cold sores), it’s recommended that you take or apply a targeted antiviral medication prior to treatment.

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect your skin to be red and feel as though you have a sunburn, which can last anywhere from 24-48 hours. Patients may want to plan for some social downtime for a day or two post treatment to allow for any redness to reside. Depending on depth of treatment, you may experience some mild to moderate peeling/flaking which will resolve in a few days. It's highly recommended to avoid direct sun exposure - stay indoors or wear a large brimmed hat if you need to be outside. It's advised to avoid excessive sweating, exercising, hot showers, baths, spas or saunas, and avoid swimming for at least 24 hours after. Make up can be applied 24 hours after the treatment if needed. And sunscreen is highly recommended. Active skincare ingredients can be resumed one week after the treatment.

While you're welcome to just get one treatment if you'd like, microneedling is recommended to be a done anywhere from 3-6 treatments depending on the goals and results wanting to be obtained.

Treatments are recommended every 4-8 weeks and a treatment plan will be discussed with your practitioner to ensure the best results for you and your skin.
